What is Manitobans for Human Rights

Manitobans for Human Rights is dedicated to promoting human rights in Manitoba as a non-profit, non-partisan association and as a registered charity is committed to work collaboratively with academics, businesses, organizations and like-minded people in the Province

Purpose of the position:

Volunteer coordinator’s key role is matching the skills, experiences and expectations of volunteers to available positions in MHR

Assist in identifying a volunteer handbook for on-going organizational events

Time commitment: Full-time, through Monday toFriday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and or evenings

Supervisor: Board of Directors, Director of Programs, Event Coordinator

Some Key Duties with MHRI

Provide welcoming receptionservices and act as an ambassador for the organization

Provide Administrative support for volunteer sub-committees

Maintain phone, mailing lists and help with maintaining a volunteer database

Maintain donor database – enternew entries

Participate in posting to social media as directed and approved

Sign-up Torch of Dignity event volunteers

Planning how and where to recruit volunteers and posting adverts

Manitobans for Human Rights Inc.

Interviewing volunteers

Completing relevant checks (like a police check or workingwith children check) Planning for volunteer retention andreplacement

Developing policies and procedures. Coordinate orientation for new volunteers

Developing an orientation kit, volunteer handbook or introductory programs Presenting or managing the orientation for all new starters

Providing training or demonstrations in use of officeequipment or specific tools. Conduct questionnaire forvolunteer or evaluation

Developing ways to recognize and reward volunteer efforts

Managing volunteer communications such as social functions,newsletters or social media Managing any associated budgets andexpenditure

Essential Skills:

Good oral communication as the position will be communicating with people from diverse backgrounds Great problem solver

Planning and goal setting Delegating projects and tasks

Helping volunteers feel welcome and supported

A team player/builder – workswell with others Strong organizational skills

Ability to make clear decisions and execute job task planning, and open to continuous learning. Computer skills required

Job Type: Must be going back to university in the fall 2018/19
